The Turrid Seashell belongs to the family Turridae and Order Littorimorpha. The family has shells generally fusiform with turret-shaped spire, and anal sinus is in the form of an indistinct slit to a deep profound turrid notch situated at various distances between the sutures and periphery on the outer lip.
Indian Turrid is one of the largest turrids. They are found in sandy shallow seas, across the Indo Pacific region.
